Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested three persons for allegedly stealing a baby from a clinic in Sharsha upazila of Jashore.
The arrestees are identified as Ringku Chakrabarty, Nasima Khatun and Saju.
Ringku Chakrabarty was arrested on Wednesday afternoon while Nasima Khatun and Saju the day before from various places in Jashore, said Reshma Sharmin, superintendent of Jashore PBI.
In primary interrogation, Ringku and Saju admitted their complicity in stealing.
On September 9, Roksana Khatun, wife of Billal Hoosain, 38 of Madhukhali area in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore, was taken to Navaran Clinic and Diagnostic Center for delivery.
After the couple was blessed with a baby girl, the gang took it away.
Later, the infant was stolen from the clinic and sold to Nasima at TK 15,000, said Sub-inspector Jiaur Rahman, the investigating officer of the case, said.
The stolen child was rescued from Bakora area in Jhenaidah on Tuesday (September 28) .
Nasima and Saju were produced before a Judicial Magistrate court where they admitted their involvement.
